被譽為醫學天才的實習醫生姜馬陸(宋仲基飾)，與記者韓在熙(朴詩妍飾)同在貧民區長大，後來更發展成戀人。兩人互相扶持，希望憑着努力出人頭地，擺脫貧窮生活。一天，馬陸突然接到在熙的求救電話，焦急的他拋下生病的妹妹姜可可(李侑菲飾)，火速前往在熙所在的賓館營救。馬陸到達後，赫然發現在熙身旁倒臥着一名已死男子，在熙表示錯手殺人欲自首，但馬陸不忍見她入獄，遂狠下決心放棄大好前途，為在熙頂罪……可惜服刑期間在熙突然音訊斷絕，令馬陸傷心不已。六年後，刑滿出獄的馬陸，成了專門敲詐女騙子的花花公子。在一次飛行途中，他救了在機上病發的富家女徐恩琪(文彩元飾)，並重遇與恩琪同行的在熙，原來在熙幾年前嫁了恩琪的爸爸、太山集團會長徐正奎當繼室。馬陸不甘在熙為了榮華富貴，竟毀了當日對自己許下之愛的約定，被背叛的憤怒燃燒馬陸復仇之心，他決定接近恩琪，進行對在熙的復仇計劃……
