SPANISH DUO COULD FEATURE
Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres are back in contention for the crucial Champions League clash against Besiktas.
The Spanish duo, both of whom missed out on Saturday's derby due to injury, will be assessed after training at Melwood today, though Benitez is confidence they could feature.
He said: "Xabi and Fernando are important players so it is good to have them back.
"They will train today and we will see how they do, but they should be available for midweek. They are both much better.
"It is important for the squad to have them back because some players are really tired after the international break."
Wednesday's match appears to have come too soon for centre-back Daniel Agger, who has yet to fully recover from a metatarsal injury. |
