Finnan passes medical to join Espanyol

New Espanyol signing Steve Finnan has passed his medical with theBarcelona-based club two weeks after completing his transfer fromLiverpool.

Due to his involvement in the World Cup qualifying games with theRepublic of Ireland squad, Finnan was unable to travel to the Catalancapital until Sunday night.

He is set to be unveiled to the press at 6pm local time onMonday, before joining his new team-mates for his first trainingsession on Tuesday morning.

A statement on the Espanyol website read: "The latest Espanyolsigning, Steve Finnan, has this morning passed a medical before joining(coach Bartolome) Marquez's squad."The player underwent tests at the Clinica Creu Blanca, despitehaving a complete medical before finalising his signing, which tookplace on August 31."
