RAFA: WE MUST BE POSITIVE

Rafa Benitez believes Liverpool are still in a strong position to challenge on all fronts despite a number of recent setbacks.
The Spaniard insists he is happy with the Reds' start on the domestic scene and although he cannot say the same for the Champions League campaign, he believes the memory of Olympiacos proves his side can still make up ground in Group A.

"In the Premier League we are in a very good position and the same can be said about the Carling Cup," said Benitez.

"Now we need to improve in the Champions League.

"We have four more games to play, but I remember some years ago we needed to win against Olympiakos in the last game and were losing in the first-half 0-1 and we needed to score three goals in the second half.

"We scored three goals and went on to win the Champions League. So you must be positive."

Meanwhile the Reds boss has also backed proposals that would see referees receive protection from the intimidatory actions of players, by only allowing captains to speak to the official.

"I think it could be good," he said.

"If we can support the referee it will be perfect. It wouldn't be a problem it would be positive and would be better for referees and better for everyone."
