i know some Gerrard FC fans might get angry by what i am going to write, but i feel thats the real issure and problem we have first of all, i love gerrard, i think we should play him in most games
however i think he as a CM makes the team worse
He did score a great goal tonight, and his overall perfomance tonight is rather good compare to most of his teamates, however he is one of the main reason why we have not been playing good recently
Gerrard, as a CM, is too too too aggressive, aggressive in the sense that he tries to move the ball forward or attack everytime he has the ball, he does not pass to the person next to him, rather he will pass a long pass, a killing pass, to try to create something. When he do this, we lose the ball very easily. in the 2nd half tonight, he did much better. But still his positioning is terrible, when mascherano has the ball, he is normally no where near him. so its hard for mascherano to find him. Or when carra or hypia has the ball, they find out that mascherano is being marked, they cannot passs to gerrard, becos gerrard is too up front. Occaisonaly gerrard will drop deep to get the ball, but after he get the ball he pass another long ball to the front.
In short, his positioning is terrible as a CM. We should play him in anothe rposition, we are so strong in CM position anyway, why not play him as RMF or behind the striker?
if we keep the ball better, wide players like pennant and babel can get more involve
if we keep the ball better, finnan and riise can do more overlaps going forward without fearing of counter attacks by opponents
Conclusion, we should play lucas or xabi with mascherano or sissoko as CM
hope people can understand i have nth against gerrard, but i just feel that he should play in other positon and that is what will help the team
