You can use either "iBooks" or "Stanza" to read them. Both free and able to transfer ebooks via USB.  Enjoy!

i'd downloaded the files and the apps but failed to sync into iTunes. am I need to jailbreak my phone in order to sync ?

No need Jailbreak. Just transfer the files to Stanza or iBooks via USB if you cannot sync to your device.
