Yes, it is horrible, lots of casualties, and there are hero stories too.
Now the govt has sent the army to help clean up.

The flood originally affected Queensland, and has started to receed.  Now part of Victoria has floods too and it has not peaked.

A cyclone Yasi just visited Australia, bringing 200+ winds and chaos, destroyed lots of houses, crops and produce.  Veg will be expensive soon.
Yasi brought the hot air from inland to the east, then when it hits the cold front from the south brought lots of rain.  
Now Yasi has been downgraded and we are spared of flood and rain, just the tail end of wind.
